Masking Tape Applicator Tape Measure Sharp Knife

Tools & Equipment used

Preparation

Before you being installation of any graphics you need to make sure the vehicle is nice and clean. If you put graphics onto a dirty vehicle the adhesive sticks to the dirt and not the bodywork.

Use normal car wash soap- avoid anything with a wax or silicone additive- this type of product leaves a film on your paintwork which vinyl doesn't like sticking to. Once your vehicle is dry you are ready to start applying your graphics

Let's start....

Take a line of text and add a piece of masking tape to each end like the diagram below. Position the line of text on your vehicle in the area you want it to be installed. The masking tape holds the vinyl in place. Take the tape measure and level out the text. Start at one end- set your measurement and repeat at the other end.

Now follow this step by step guide.

Level your text out like this

Add a strip of tape vertically across the centre like this This is what you should have
Tear or cut through the tape holding the left hand side of your text. Peel the lettering away from the backing paper like this Stop at the centre strip and cut the left hand side of the backing paper off like this.
Cut away the backing paper. You can now choose to spray the exposed letters bodywork with fluid if you want. Using fluid will make the process a lot easier. Alternatively carry on without. Line the masking tape tags up. You created these earlier. Tack the exposed vinyl in place DO NOT START RUBBING IT DOWN YET Working back from the centre rub the text with the plastic applicator- work up & down in a firm action.
Rub the text all the way over to the left hand side like this Cut or tear through the right hand masking tape piece and remove the centre strip of masking tape like this. Remove the rest of the backing paper like this.
Line this exposed text up with the right hand tags like this. After rubbing the right hand side of the text down in the same way as you did for the left remove the centre masking tape strip like this Now being peeling off the paper tape which is applied to the top of the letters. You should peel this away at an angle like this. Be gentle at this stage, making sure that each letter has stuck down properly. If you used Cheeta Fluid you should wait about 10mins before peeling off the paper.

Carry on peeling back the top paper covering until all the letters are exposed

Repeat this process for each of the sections of your vehicle graphic kit. We supply you with a diagram that shows what goes where.

Once you have fitted a couple of parts you will quickly get the hang of the process.
